Holland, Michigan is truly a one of a kind beach town that is open year round. You will find a large variety of outdoor activities that works well with any age group or family. 1. Holland State Park

A great place to enjoy the sunshine and sandy beaches of Lake Michigan.  This is one of the finest state parks in Michigan.  Home of Big Red, the most photographed lighthouse in Michigan. It also has many amenities such as a nice boardwalk down Lake Macatawa, Volleyball courts, modern bathrooms, Beachplace Cafe  and store, Hiking, Fishing, Metal Detecting, Paddlesports, Grill and so much more. 2. Tunnel Park

Tunnel Park is a smaller Lake Michigan beach than the state park but it has an excellent grassy area for some shaded picnics.  Along with a top notch playscape for the kids that includes a sand dune run. This park gets its name from the tunnel that was made through the sand dune to Lake Michigan.  You can also use the stairs to go on top of the sand dune and take in some amazing views of Lake Michigan.

3. Nelis’ Dutch Village

Nelis’ Dutch Village is the best place to go in Holland, Michigan to experience the Dutch culture. This beautiful theme park makes you feel as if you are in the Netherlands as it were 150 years ago.  Their focus is on honoring and teaching about traditional foods and crafts such as wooden shoes, candles and hand painted Delftware. One of the biggest highlights is the clog dancing.  This is an awesome experience for the whole family to learn and perform the traditional clog wooden shoe dances. A truly fun filled experience for the entire family to play, learn and create lifelong memories together.

4. Craigs Cruisers

Craigs Cruisers is a family favorite.  It offers go-karts, batting cages, eurobungy, swan boat rides and Mini Golf. differently a great place where the whole family can play together.

5. Kollen Park & Heinz Waterfront Walkway

Kollen Park & Heinz waterfront Walkway is a pet-friendly park close to Downtown Holland.  You will enjoy the cement boardwalk along Lake Macatawa where you can fish or enjoy the waterfront stroll. The Kids will love the large playground but don’t forget to check out the Queretaro Fountain.

6. Bowerman Blueberries Farm Market

Bowermans is so much more than just a blueberry farm. Although you can get the traditional U-pick experience between mid July to Mid August, they also have a cafe with Donuts and other baked goods. To make it even better they just opened a cafe in downtown Holland.  So be sure to check that out.

7. Critter Barn

The Critter Barns is dedicated to teaching about farming and agriculture while inspiring people of all ages, and all abilities, through the miracles in nature found at the farm. They have Cats, Cows, Donkey, Ducks, Geese, Goats, Hogs, Sheep, Horse, Turkeys, Hens, Rabbits. This is a great place to let you and your kids have a personal hand-on experience with the animals.

8. Bouws Pool

Sometimes the waves are just too bad on Lake Michigan for a swim. Or mabe you just don’t like swimming in a Lake.  Bouws Pool is a great place for that.  Free for kids under 16 and only 1 dollar for adults 16 and up.

9. OZ Project

Everyone knows the story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. It is believed that portions of the story written while the Author L. Frank Baum vacationed here in Holland, Michigan. The OZ Project Celebrates the book with a free outdoor exhibit in Centennial Park and Herrick District Library featuring Bronze sculptures of the characters of the book along with a living floral mosaic 10’x12’ in the shape of an open book. This is a must see and it is conveniently located next to Downtown.

10. Skate Park

There are two skate parks in Holland, Michigan. Park Township Skate Park and Smallenburg park.  

11. Mount Pisgah

If you are not scared of steps, 239 of them to be exact and are looking for some of the prettiest views of Lake Michigan, Big Red and Lake Macatawa you got to give this a try.  It takes a little effort but you won’t be disappointed.

13. Sanctuary Woods

Is the perfect name for this pet-friendly wooded trail.  Set on the southside of Lake Macatawa you will find a little stream and a heavily wooded trail that leads to a massive dune stairway. After you catch your breath from all the stairs mother nature will take it away with its beauty.  Be prepared for some stunning views of both Lake Macatawa and Lake Michigan through all the trees.

14. Charter Fishing Trip

Holland has several Charter Fishing companies that take you out to Lake Michigan for some good old- fashioned fishing.  You can catch many fish species but they are mostly known for the great salmon you can get in Lake Michigan. 15. Holland Princess Dinner Cruises

This 65’ Victorian style paddle-wheel riverboat is a great way to cruise Lake Macatawa.  For a reasonable price you get a 2 hour boat ride that takes you out to Lake Michigan and back while you enjoy the views, entertainment and a catered dinner.

16. Water sports

Renting a boat, jet skis, kayaks, paddle boards and canoes.
