The Secrets of Windmill Island Gardens will Amaze You!

This beautiful 36 acre garden is full of over 125,000 tulips that take breathtaking photos in the spring and annual plants and flowers fill the ground in the summer.  You feel like you are in the Netherlands walking around all the dikes, canals and picnic areas.  However the main attraction is an amazing 250 year old working Ducth windmill called “ DeZwaan ”.  You can start by watching a 12 minute movie of the story of DeZwaan before taking a tour of the windmill.  In the tour you will learn all about the purpose and uses of a windmill.  Your tour guide will also take you to the viewing deck where your eyes will feast on the tulip gardens below.

$12 for adults

$6 for children 3-15 years of age

Free for Holland Residents with the exception of Tulip Time

9:30am-5:00pm April 18 – October 2

The park is open 7 days a week.

Tulip Time Hours:

May 7th-15th 2022

9am-6pm (last admission)

Peak Bloom Week:

July 24-30 is the best time to see the peak bloom display of annuals and perennials at Windmill Island Gardens.

May 7th-15th Tulip Time (come see over 125,000 tulips planted throughout the gardens)

Pet Friendly:

Windmill Island Gardens does allow pets as long as they are leased with the exception of the windmill and gift shops.

Accessibility:

With the exception of the upper floors of the Windmill.  Wheelchairs are available for use on site at guest services in the Post House.
