Stu Visser Trails Is More Than Just Trails.

This small pet-friendly trail is a great trail for a quick hike in a peaceful setting that wraps around small ponds prefect for fishing and has Pine Creek tricking throughout. 

The 1.0 mile trail is a mixture of nature trails, sand, shredded bark and boardwalks that connect multiple wetland observation decks. 

They have a few picnic tables and bench seats along the path if you want to take a rest and enjoy the scenery. 

Stu Visser often floods during heavy rain and after the snow has melted. So you may want to bring some waterproof boots if you are hiking in the spring.

This park is a great place to find some wildlife like rabbits, ducks, blue herrings, turtles, garter snakes and dust a great relaxing place.  

Parking:

There are two parking lots for this trail. Parking lot North is on West Lakewood Boulevard just West of North Division Avenue.

Parking lot South is on Ottawa Beach Road just West of North Division Avenue. 

Pet Friendly:

This trail is pet friendly so bring your furry friends, they will enjoy the trail. Plenty of wildlife to sniffing and chasing.

Restrooms: 

NO public restroom.  In the summer they have a portapotty available. 

Activities:  

  • Hiking the 1 mile trail is easy with a nice boardwalk going over streams and ponds.
  • Fishing is a favorite of many of the patrons. I bet they have some nice Bass in the water. a great place to teach the little ones about fishing.
  • Bird watching you will find the bird watching is real peaceful here. I have never been so close to a blue herring before.
  • Picnicking sitting relaxing enjoy nature is a good way to work up an appetite. so bring a tasty lunch.

Additional tips:

Trails tend to flood with rain and snow melting. Due to being a wetland observation, sometimes the mosquitos can be bad. The trail is not a loop so when you reach the end of the trail you will have to take it back to the beginning. The trail is only 1.0 mile.
